This year, 80 underprivileged children aged between 8 and 12 years old from the regions of Montreal, Quebec, and Trois-Riviere had the wonderful opportunity to participate in our fun winter camps throughout the months of February and March 2022.
The children who participated were selected with the help of the CIUSSS and community organizations that help families with financial and health problems. Priority was given to the families experiencing exceptional difficulty since the start of the pandemic. These families include those that are on the verge of rupture or who have a great need for a change in environment to acquire a more positive energy.
For three days, the children participated in numerous fun activities that many experienced for the first time such as tubing, snowshoeing, sledding, playing broom ball, exploring the giant labyrinth, making camp fires, hiking, identifying animal tracks and roaming the camp’s ‘’enchanted forest’’ (where there are a multitude of activities set up). The accommodations were in an extraordinary rural setting with beautiful facilities. The children received three hot meals and snacks daily. Moreover, they left with many useful gifts including winter boots, gloves, hats, pillows, sleeping bags, and soccer balls.
Thank you to Domaine Scout St-Louis de France, all of our partners, sponsors and donors who have made these activities a possibility particularly during such challenging times! We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Elise Golbert from Pajar who had the immense generosity to once more equip these children with winter boots.
